This insurance protects the lender in case of default. FHA loans are generally considered when one cannot qualify for a conventional loan or afford a larger down payment.

Key considerations for FHA loans include:

  • Have you been denied a conventional loan?
  • Are you comfortable with the additional mortgage insurance premium?
  • Do you have at least 3.5% of the purchase price saved or gifted for the down payment?

USDA – US Department of Agriculture
